Mark McClements
Admissions Coordinator
Mark was born and raised just south of Seattle in Tacoma, Washington. After graduating from high school he went to the University of Montana in Missoula where he received his bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Central Asian & Middle Eastern Studies. Mark then moved to Chicago where he proudly served as a Corps Member and Team Leader at Orr Academy High School and Al Raby High School, respectively. Upon completion of his Senior Corps year in Chicago, Mark joined the City Year team in Washington, DC as the Admissions Coordinator. Mark believes that education is the civil rights issue of our generation, and is a devout believer in the power of City Year and national service to generate change. Mark regularly gives back to his community in the form of service inside and outside of City Year. Mark is proud to be a member of the Recruitment and Admissions Team and advance the service of City Year in our nation’s capital.

UnoBlessed Coons
Recruitment Manager
UnoBlessed Coons is from Indianapolis, Indiana. She is a recent graduate of Butler University with a B.A. in Urban Affairs. Before finishing her degree at Butler, UnoBlessed served as a Whole School Whole Child corps member in 2008-2009 and as a Recruitment Project Leader in 2009-2010. She is passionate about community and leadership development and has now returned to City Year Washington D.C. to serve as the Recruitment Manager. She is excited to share her City Year experiences with prospective corps members in hopes to build a corps of diverse young leaders who will strengthen our communities, become big citizens and change the world.

Madeline Corniel
Whole School Whole Child Program Manager
Madeline Corniel is proud city girl from the Big Apple, New York City. She grew up in the Bronx and graduated from the University of Rochester in Upstate, New York in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. Through her leadership experiences in college and high school, she developed a passion for education and serving high-need areas, like Washington, DC. After college, Maddy joined City Year Washington, DC’s corps serving at Hart Middle School, and returned the following year as a Whole School Whole Child Team Leader at Johnson Middle School. Through her experiences serving with City Year Washington, DC, Maddy has developed a passion for youth development and the empowerment of young people. Wanting to expand her knowledge of the District of Columbia Public School System, she decided to continue her work with City Year Washington, DC and has joined the staff as a Whole School Whole Child Program Manager serving at Kramer Middle School.

Jerry Lawrence
Whole School Whole Child Program Manager
Jerry recently returned City Year Washington, DC as Program Manager for the Whole School Whole Child initiative. Jerry served as a City Year corps member from 2006-08 serving his first year in Washington, DC and his second in Los Angeles. After his service term ended, Jerry returned to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. After graduating Jerry joined Teach for America and taught middle school English in Baltimore, MD. Jerry is excited to be back with City Year and to continue closing the achievement gap one child at a time.

Whole School Whole Child Program Manager
Kate Mitchell is starting her 3rd year with City Year, proudly transitioning into the position of Whole School Whole Child Program Manager. Kate served her Corps year in DC working with an amazing class of 4th graders and Garfield Elementary school. She returned the next year as a Team Leader at Garfield and led a group of 10 idealist through the City Year program. Kate is a proud native of the great mid-west, born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan and a proud alum of the University of Iowa School of Social Work.Kate is excited to continue her work in the District with City Year and to continue to grow and develop as a leader.

Matt begins his third year with City Year Washington, DC, and his first year on staff. He joined first as a corps member, then senior corps member and now as a Program Manager.
